Hornets Acquire Nicolas Batum In Trade With Trail Blazers

The Charlotte Hornets acquired wingman Nicolas Batum from the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night (June 23), as they revamp their roster after a disappointing season.

According to ESPN, the Hornets send guard Gerald Henderson and power forward Noah Vonleh to Portland in the trade.

"We felt like we needed some more shooting and we feel like we have addressed that," Hornets general manager Rich Cho said.

The deal follows the Hornets' move last week, where they sent Lance Stephenson to the Los Angeles Clippers for Spencer Hawes and Matt Barnes.

Batum is expected to start at the 2-guard spot while Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will remain at small forward.

Last season, he started 71 games and averaged 9.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists, despite a nagging wrist injury.
