Art Festival Pow! Wow! Is Returning To Long Beach
Annual art gathering Pow! Wow! is set to return to Long Beach, Calif. this month for a week-long series of events bringing together artists and creatives.
If you haven't heard of Pow! Wow!, it's grown into a global network of artists and organizes gallery shows, lecture series, schools for art and music, mural projects, a large creative space named Lana Lane Studios, concerts, and live art installations across the globe. The central event in Hawaii takes place during Valentine's Day week in February in the Kaka'ako district of Honolulu, bringing together over 100 international and local artists for the creation of murals and other forms of art.
The festival returns to Long Beach from June 22-27, via a week-long series of exhibitions, talks and screenings.
This year, the Long Beach Museum of Art, in collaboration with Thinkspace Gallery and POW! WOW!, will also be hosting "Verve and Vitality: Transforming the Urban Landscape". It opens on Friday (June 26) at 7pm and will include a roster of artists such as James Jean, Aaron de la Cruz, Fafi, Cryptik, Hueman, Jeff Soto, Low Bro, Nychos, Madsteez, Bumblebee, Tristan Eaton, and others.
Other highlights includes a lecture with Jeff Staple, the mind behind the brand Staple and Reedpace; a screening of street artist Nychos's documentary The Deepest Depths Of The Burrow, as well as a talk.
In addition to Hawaii and Long Beach, the festival has expanded to cities and countries such as Taiwan, Austin, Israel, Singapore, Jamaica, Washington D.C., Guam, New Zealand, Germany and others.
