“Jurassic World” Devours Box Office With $204 Million Opening

Jurassic World returns in a big way this weekend, taking over the box office with a staggering $204.6 million.

The film became the highest global opener of all time with $511.8 million in its first days in theaters, but also devoured a number of domestic box office records as well.

Jurassic World had the biggest opening in 2015 so far, and is also the second-highest domestic opening of all time, right behind Marvel's The Avengers, which took in $207.4 million in 2012.

Melissa McCarthy's Spy fell to second place this weekend with $16 million, San Andreas added another $11 million for third, and Insidious Chapter 3 and Pitch Perfect 2 took the fourth and fifth spots, with $7.3 million and $6 million, respectively.

That's a wrap for this weekend. This upcoming week, look out for the release of the Open Road Films comedy DOPE, featuring A$AP Rocky, and the animated Inside Out.
