Hip-Hop Pioneers Talk Genre’s Beginnings, Defining Moments

Bronx-based economic development project, Windows Of Hip Hop, celebrated their 1 year anniversary recently with a Hip Hop Reunion party by pioneers, Grandmaster Caz and Grandmaster Melle Mel.

We attended the event, and spoke to these pioneers about the culture, the beginnings of the genre, and the defining moments early on. "I've been a part of the culture of hip-hop since its inception. One moment? I could never say just one moment," Caz told us, when asked about some of his favorite times in hip-hop.

Shoutout to Windows Of Hip Hop, who promotes the educational, communal, and historical perspective of the genre. For more info, visit WOHH.org.
