Gucci Mane Apologizes For Twitter Rant, Admits To Lean Addiction
After going off on a crazy rant two weeks ago, Gucci Mane returned to Twitter on Sunday (September 22) to apologize for his controversial comments... and admitted to a lean addiction to lean (aka sizzurp).
On September 9, the Atlanta rap star went off, throwing shots at everyone from Nicki Minaj and Tyga to Keyshia Cole, Ciara and Fantasia. After shaking the industry up, he'd drop a new mixtape (Diary Of A Trap God), and then, deleted his Twitter profile days later. He wasn't done yet, though -- Gucci was then arrested and hospitalized for allegedly cursing out some cops while in possession of weed and a handgun.
Though incarcerated, Gucci seemed much different in a series of tweets Sunday.
"Woke up the other day out this hospital bed & I'm so embarrassed & ashamed of my behavior that was brought to my attention," he wrote (@Gucci1017). "I just wanna man up right now & take this time to apologize to my family, friends, the industry & most of all my fans. I'm SORRY!"
He continued, saying his actions were fueled by his addiction to codeine, though he says it's no excuse. "I've been drinking lean for 10plus years & I must admit it has destroyed me. I wanna be the first rapper to admit I'm addicted to lean & that sh** ain't no joke. I can barely remember all the things I've done & said. However there"s no excuse.
"I'm currently incarcerated but I will be going to rehab because I need help," Guwop continued.
He also offered an apolozie to Birdman, Rick Ross, and Drake, saying he "100% regret my words & actions."
Before signing off, Gucci Mane said he recorded some new music, and is anxious to release it to fans.
