Company Offers Free Appliances If Broncos Shut Out Raiders
There's a lot on the line during "Monday Night Football" next week, when the Denver Broncos face off against the Oakland Raiders.
According to ESPN.com, Colorado-based Appliance Factory has offered their customers who buy products in the week before the Raiders game their items free ... if the Broncos shut out the visiting team. That includes refrigerators, dishwashers and mattresses.
The Broncos have never been shut out by Oakland, or vice versa, but there's been some close calls. Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski has been the spoiler -- in the 2004 and 2005 games played in Denver, the kicker were the only scores.
"We'd so love to give away what we sell," said Kevin Drako, the COO, told ESPN. "But, Janikowski kicking in Denver is always a challenge."
Appliance Factory pays between $20,000 and $40,000 each year for insurance that will cover the cost should the Broncos come through. But, they rake in a lot more in sales... during that week. The company expects to do between $1.2 million and $1.4 million worth of sales from Sunday to Sunday, when the promotion is running.
Any item sold for between $399 and $3,000 is included in the promotion, which Drako said leads to a 45 percent increase in company-wide sales compared to an average week.
