No Limit Records Rapper Mr. Magic Dies In Car Crash

Former No Limit Records rapper Mr. Magic died in a tragic car accident on Friday (March 1) in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

According to the Times-Picayune, the rapper (real name: Awood Johnson) and his wife (Chastity) were killed, while their 12-year-old daughter (Twila Wise John) survived. Magic was 37 years old.

Former labelmates, Silkk The Shocker and Mystikal, tweeted about the passing of the Ninth Ward, New Orleans rapper. Silkk wrote, "Prayers goes to the Family and Friends of Mr. Magic. him and Wife died in a car accident last night.."

Mystikal later added: "RIP TO MY BROTHER. MR MAGIC & HIS WIFE! GOD BLESS THEIR FAMILIES."

Magic released four solo albums during his career. The first three were released on No Limit Records, while his last solo project, On My Own, dropped in 2003 via Koch Records. Additionally, he was also known as one-third of the rap trio, Body Head Bangerz, which also inlcuded fellow New Orleans rapper Choppa and former boxing champion Roy Jones, Jr.

Magic's debut album Sky's The Limit dropped in 1998 via No Limit Records. It landed in the top 20 on the Billboard 200, and featured the likes of Mia X, Mystikal, Fiend, Snoop Dogg, Soulja Slim and others.
