Def Jam's Cali signee, YG, has steadily built his own fanbase since his breakout single in 2010, "Toot It and Boot It." Through a handful of mixtapes, rigerous touring, and with the help of his producer DJ Mustard, the young rapper has created his own sound ... and positioned himself as one of the artists to watch for in the new year.

Fresh off the release of his latest mxitape, Just Re'd Up 2, which has garnered nearly 250,000 downloads on DatPiff as of press time, we caught up with the Compton rapper at his Hollywood Hills home to discuss his journey thus far.

"A lot more people respect me now," said YG, explaining how things have changed since 2010. "I got more fans, my fanbase has changed. I got merch now I'm selling. I done been on tour -- Tyga's tour, Mac Miller's, I did my own tour. My situation at the label changed... everything changed."

YG says he's turned it up 400% for Just Re'd Up 2, showcasing his growth and maturity. Later, he tells us about how he and DJ Mustard linked up and have been inseparable ever since. He explains their process and how important the DJ/producer is to his sound.
