Closer Look At Nike's Lunar Force 1 (Photos)

By Jay Casteel   /   Published 12/11/12

Celebrating 30 years, Nike is set to officially release the future of their iconic Air Force 1 silhouette, in the form of a modernized version called the Lunar Force 1. We got our hands on a pair, so we give our readers a closer look.

Calling it "a game-changing shoe," the updated sneaker boasts the shoe giant's Lunarlon cushioning and Nike's Hyperfuse construction.

The Nike Lunar Force 1 is redesigned from the inside out. Its Lunarlon cushioning in the midsole and outsole features the technology's beveled ribs, enhancing flexibility and reducing the shoe's weight drastically, from its original 17.56 ounces to just 11.7 ounces.

A Nike Zoom Air-Sole unit remains in the heel for improved comfort and reactivity, while simultaneously, Nike's Hyperfuse construction transforms the upper fusing three layers one revolutionary, lightweight composite -- one for stability, one for breathability and one for durability.

It also features a reflective Swoosh, while the classic sneaker's integrity and signature silhouette remain intact.  Inside, a red grid is printed on the sole with the words "AF1" and "XXX" for 30 years.

The Nike Lunar Force 1 will release in limited quantities on December 12 at select Nike Sportswear retail locations globally.
