Nearly three weeks after Chris Lighty's passing, friends and family still don't believe the hip-hop mogul would take his own life. 50 Cent feels so strongly about it, he's paying for an investigation into how his business manager died, after Chris' mother approached him for help, reports MyFoxNY.com.
"To be honest with you, there was too much planning to move forward, to accept right away that he just... shot himself," Fif told local Fox 5 News. "I couldn't tell her no at that point, because she kinda needed closure. There was so many gray areas in conversation, that they discussed it, that it surprised me."
Fif says he'll back the investigation efforts until conclusive evidence is revealed.
Lighty died in late August, allegedly from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after an argument with his wife. He was just 44 years old.
While it was ruled a suicide, many close to Lighty have doubts. 50 offered to pay for an investigation.
50 also told Fox News that Lighty was not in financial trouble, like reports alluded to, despite owing around $5 million to the IRS.
Lighty was involved in every major career development of 50 Cent's career, over the last decade, including his massive deal with VitaminWater that netted the rapper a reported $100 million.
