Ice-T Defends Right To Bear Arms, Says Guns Meant To ‘Protect Yourself From The Police’

There's been a lot of talk regarding gun control through tougher gun laws in wake of the tragic movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado last week.

Rapper Ice-T has spoken out regarding the topic, defending Americans' constitutional right to bear arms, calling gun ownership the "last defense against tyranny".

In an interview with Channel 4 News, the rapper explained his opinion as to why people should be legally able to own guns.

"I'll give up my gun when everybody else does. Doesn't that make sense? If there were guns here, would you want to be the only person without one?" Ice asked. "Yeah, it's legal in the United States. It's part of our constitution. The right to bear arms is because it's the last defense against tyranny. It's not to hunt; it's to protect yourself from the police."

According to Ice-T, trying to link gun control to the tragic Colorado shooing last week is ridiculous, adding that changing laws pertaining to guns would not stop anyone from using them to commit crimes.

"If someone wants to kill people, they don't need a gun," he argued. "Not really, you can strap explosives on your body. They do that all the time. [Amending laws is] not going to change anything in the United States. The United States is based on guns. Like KRS says, you'll never have justice on stolen land. So it's not going to change."

typical american bs, spouting the same line. america is the only country that allows civilians to pack semi-automatic weapons, period. think for yourself fool. and this from a guy who plays a cop on tv, come on son, you're no OG!!!

  • Pro-tip: you cannot "protect" yourself from the police, except via avoidance. If you shoot one, more will come. Shoot those and MORE will come. Eventually you'll be killed or jailed for life - if you're REALLY unfortunate, they'll kill some of your loved ones in the process. All guns do is let poor people kill other poor people. You'd think he'd know this, but apparently Ice-T gave up keeping it real awhile ago.

Thank you Ice-T for speaking the truth. Some people don't know their history:

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

On the flip side, Switzerland issues every household a gun. They also have the lowest gun related crime rate in any of the "civilized" countries.

To all the gun control advocates, sorry if that doesn't fit in to your set of beliefs, but those are the facts.

  • He's an idiot - and a total fool. A hypocrite who plays a cop constantly, but holds disdain for law enforcement. A real POS!

  • And after all we are always hearing about people defending themselves against the cops with their guns only to have the police say, "This guy just has too many guns, let's go away and let him be."

Nonsense. There are many countries that allow civilians arms....even one that demands civilians have a machine gun in their home.
