Southern rapper Bubba Sparxxx is best known for his 2001 breakout hit "Ugly" and 2005's "Ms. New Booty," but over the last few days, he's made headlines for his tax problems.
Earlier this week, the 35-year-old rapper made TMZ when it was revealed that he owed nearly $30,000 in back taxes to the IRS. He's since come forward revealing that he's owe much more actually.
Since the news broke, Bubba responded to TMZ, telling the gossip site that he's in debt to the government for hundreds of thousands in delinquent taxes, not tens of thousands as it was first thought.
"I was having a good time and just wasn't attentive to a lot of issues. My main issue was Mr. Tax Man, which I neglected because of doing things I had no business doing," Bubba said.
Despite his negligence, he now claims to be on top of his business and is working things out.
"This past year, I have now changed all of that. I have stopped partying and hanging out ... I got a tax lawyer and a business account to get my tax situation handled."
How does he plan to pay off his tax debt? "With a new album," he said.
As previously reported, wages paid through BMI (which pays artists royalties/publishing) are being garnished to pay back $29,266 he owes from 2006.
