Vans teamed up with Native non-profit Nibwaakaawin in late April for a collaborative series of sneakers created to coincide with the 2012 All Nation Skate Jam in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The sneakers sold for $50-75, with all proceeds going to Nibwaakaawin, which is dedicated to the education and empowerment of Native youth. While Vans tells us the event was a success, with the organization selling most of the stock, the surplus left-over was stolen last Sunday (April 29).
A trailer containing $10,000 worth of Vans x Nibwaakaawin limited shoes was stolen from the Albuquerque hotel they were staying at. Now, Vans and the non-profit are asking for fans' help in finding the culprits, especially since the shoes were going toward a good cause.
"If people see them selling them, it's easy to know that whoever is selling them are selling stolen shoes," said Todd Harder, executive director of Nibwaakaawin.
Nibwaakaawin is dedicated to the education and empowerment of Native youth. They funded the annual All Nations Skate Jam, which took place over the weekend.
