Adidas officially debuted their new adiZero Sonic 3 TV spot on Wednesday (April 18), featuring top NFL Draft prospect and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III (see below). In the clip, he is seen training in the versatile and lightweight running shoe, which will be available exclusively through Dick's Sporting Goods.
Designed to be lightweight with enough support and traction for speed drills and weight training, the show is touted as "the athlete's ultimate running shoe for year-round workouts."
"The first thing that comes to mind when you put on the adizero Sonic is how light it is," Griffin III said in a statement. "It gives you a lot of support so you can run long distances, but you can use it multiple ways. It has support so you can lift in it and stay comfortable during a full day’s workout."
The commercial, which was partially shot at Baylor's Floyd Casey Stadium where Griffin III set or tied more than 50 school records, looks at how the heavy weight of pressure and heat of the spotlight are shattered by what lightweight adizero shoes deliver.
"The adizero Sonic 3 was built for the high school athlete with a faster, more aggressive look," said Mikal Peveto, director of running for adidas America. "This is the ultimate go-fast shoe that runners, football players and baseball players alike will use to break records to get to the next level."
The adiZero Sonic 3 was built with speed in mind. It features the brand's adiPrene+ midsole technology for "responsive cushioning with each stride", a stitchless SprintWeb that provides "superior support to ensure your foot stays in place without extra weight," and air mesh to "offer maximum breathability and comfort."
