She's been compared to Lady Gaga on numerous occasions by critics, due to her over-the-top costumes and Gaga-esque stage shows, but to Nicki Minaj, they are two complete different artists.
During an interview with ABC's "Nightline", the YMCMB rapper seems to get a little annoyed when as to address the comparisons, ultimately saying each are in "two different lanes."
"Offend me? No. Irks me? Yeah," Nicki responded when asked if comparisons offend her. "Because we are in completely different lanes.
"First of all, I'm a rapper. First of all, I'm from Southside Jamaica, Queens, and I could say some really crazy lyrics right now, but I won't," she continued.
When Nicki asked what what similarities journalist Juju Chang sees, she noted her wigs and costumes. Nicki wasn't impressed. "Every female in this game wears wigs," Nicki fired back. "Over the top costumes? Eeh, try again."
She also talked about being labeled a "pop star," making it clear she's still hardcore; if kids should listen to her music and realizing how young her fans are; her drug-addicted father; the nip-slip on "Good Morning America"; and more.
