Although everyone's been patiently waiting for his long awaited Detox album, producer Dr. Dre continues to put it on the backburner for other projects.
Aside from his Beats By Dre headphones business, the legendary hip-hop icon is set to serve as producer for an upcoming horror-thriller called "Thaw."
According to Variety, the film will be released through Dre's own Crucial Films company, and will be produced by himself and partner Daniel Schnider, who originated the idea.
Dre has also tapped writer Vik Weet to script the film.
Weet previously penned the script for another untitled thriller, which is currently being directed by Renny Harlin. It's about an investigation into the 1959 Dyatlov Pass incident, in which nine experienced hikers were found dead in Russia's Ural Mountains.
Further details about Dre's upcoming "Thaw" were unknown at press time.
Variety says Dre launched Crucial Films in 2007 with a first-look deal at New Line. "Thaw" would be the first release under the partnership.
