Despite the lack of rave reviews during his fashion designer debut in October 2011, Kanye West returned to Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday (March 5) to unveil the second season of his Dw By Kanye womenswear line.
During his runway show, the hip-hop superstar unveiled 20 looks from his 2012 Fall/Winter ready-to-wear collection to an a-list crowd that included the likes of Kim Kardashian, Diddy, Cassie, Shyne, Cassie, Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys, Anna Wintour, Big Sean, and Common, among others.
As seen in the photos captured by NowFashion.com, models strutted the runway rocking Ye's creative vision, which consisted of a lot of black leather, some gold, furs, and a few white ensembles.
"I learned a lot from the last one," Kanye told the Wall Street Journal after the show. "I'm learning every day. I'm a new designer. I'm taking baby steps."
Despite his humble response, critics such as the WSJ blogger Christina Binkley still had some critiques. While applauding the rapper's progression in fashion, saying he did better than last year, she pointed out the fact that Ye may have hired various consultants to pull things together.
"This collections looks like he has had a lot of consultants working with him. But it's way better than before," Brinkley wrote. "I'd say he pulled it off, but with a lot of help. The rumors that he has been hiring consultants right and left seem likely accurate.
"This collection looked a lot like Givenchy, but more commercial," she later added. "Given that Givenchy designer Ricardo Tisci was expected to be here tonight, I'm suspicious."
At press time, it's unknown when Ye's Dw By Kanye would hit the market.
