Rick Ross Tops MTV’s 2012 ‘Hottest MC In The Game’ List

Rick RossAfter a week of revealing the rankings, MTV has finally unveiled the #1 artist on their seventh annual "Hottest MCs in the Game" list. Following the additions of artists such as Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Jay-Z being to the list, the network announces Rick Ross as the hottest artist ... right now.

"Ross meets all the criteria to be considered the 'Hottest MC in the Game.' His impact is irrefutable: Even without a solo album, he maintained a healthy and consistent buzz throughout the year, notching a #1 rap album with his Self Made compilation," MTV's Hip-Hop Brain Trust explained on MTV.com.

"Lyrically, Rozay has grown from his 'Hustlin' days and become one of the game's most celebrated spitters, and his swag is through the roof."

The Miami hip-hop star's constant appearances on radio singles has pushed his buzz into a Rozay frenzy, helping build an empire in his Maybach Music Group imprint, which saw the emergence of its artists, Wale and Meek Mill.

He did this, despite the release of his God Forgives, I Don't LP being pushed back, due to his widely reported health episode in October. However, Ross surfaced weeks later with the hit mixtape Rich Forever, which is still in rotation today.

Coming in right behind Rozay was Drake, followed by Kanye West at #3, Nicki Minaj at #4 (sole female rapper on the list for the second consecutive year), and Lil Wayne landing at #5.
