21-year-old Bad Boy Records signee Machine Gun Kelly has come a long way since his days of sleeping on couches in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. With his major label debut in the works, the young rapper reflects on his past in a recent interview.
In a VEVO News feature, MGK discusses his beginnings when he idolized freestyle rappers from "106 & Park" and starting off his career also freestyling in the schoolyard at the age of 14.
He also recalls his first recorded song -- a track called "Get Your Walk On," which he calls "terrible." Kelly even reveals that he tried gangster rap early on before developing his own style.
Reflecting on how far he's come, Kelly explains the times when he recorded his breakout mixtape Lace Up. During the time he was living in his manager's mom's apartment, sleeping on a couch and feeling like a loser.
