As of early December 2011, buzzing New York rapper French Montana became an artist on the Bad Boy Records roster. However, he had multiple offers on the table.
One, in particular, was a deal with Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label. So, why did he choose Puff over Ye? Well, that was a mystery ... until now.
French explained why during a recent stop on Angie Martinez's Hot 97 radio show. He shared his meetings with Kanye West, and revealed that the lack of direct contact was a contributing factor to why he didn't join G.O.O.D. Music.
"I met up with him one time and then I met up with him again. There were things that I was used to 'cause I was already moving. I'm like a money train," French Montana said.
"Kanye doesn't have a phone. Let's put it out there like that. If you need to get in contact with Kanye, you have to email him," he continued. "You can't tell me how to do that. I don't know how to use an email, so I guess me and you is never gonna talk, and I'ma put my career in your hands?"
Despite the obstacle, French doesn't hold any hard feelings towards Yeezy.
"He's definitely talented and I felt like if I went there, we would have definitely made history."
While G.O.O.D. Music may have been a good choice, French Montana says he's happy with his decision to join Diddy at Bad Boy.
"When I met up with Puff, everything he promised me came through. And Rozay was definitely there for me too," he said.
French Montana is currently prepping his Bad Boy debut, which he says will not only be executive produced by Diddy, but also co-executive produced by Rick Ross.
Additionally, he revealed that he's working on a New York Giants remix to his currently single, "Shot Caller."
