Tuesday (September 13) is the 15th anniversary of the death of the hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur. Throughout his career, he had several memorable moments. One specifically, is when he bum-rushed the stage at the 1994 Source Awards, punking Q-Tip of legendary hip-hop trio, A Tribe Called Quest.
In a recent interview The Source co-founder Benzino recalled the incident, explaining what happened.
Q-Tip was set to begin his acceptance speech for an award he just won, but instead, Pac snatched up the soundman, made him cue up "Out On Bail," and he stormed onto the stage, interrupting Q-Tip's moment.
"They threw they sh** in, and on cue, [Tupac] went up there and did 'Out On Bail' with eight, nine n****s," Zino said. "[Q-Tip] didn't do nothing. I just remember someone came backstage ... somebody was crying, one of them n****s was crying like 'Yo, it was f***ed up.' "
Rest in peace Tupac. He was gunned down in Las Vegas on September 13, 1996.
