Legendary hip-hop artist, Bun B, was honored in his homestate of Texas on Tuesday (August 30) when Houston declared the date Bun B Day.
The city's mayor, Annise Parker officially dubbed August 30 "Bernard 'Bun B' Freeman Day' in honor of the widely respected UGK rapper this Tuesday.
The rapper was presented with the honor at Houston's City Hall, in front of a standing-room-only audience.
During the presentation, Bun thanked Mayor Parker for recognizing his support of Houston, and added that he would be available to the city council whenever the need should arise, asking only that people remain accountable to the city's children, as well.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to tell the City Council that I am available 24-7/365 when it comes to the children of Houston, as well as the surrounding cities and communities, Bun B said, reports the Houston Press.
"I ask everyone who is here present today, as well as those who may see this on TV or the internet later, to do their part as well," the rapper continued. "Let's not forget the children of Houston. Let's make sure that they are accounted for, that they are looked after, and that they are loved and cared about."
Bun B Day also fell on Houston's 175th birthday.
