Former Roc-A-Fella Records signee, Beanie Sigel, has gotten into some trouble recently and could see time behind bars, after admitting thay he filed to pay taxes over six years ago.
According to ABC News Philly, the 37-year-old rapper (real name: Dwight Grant) entered a plea in Philadelphia's federal court on Tuesday (August 9), where he reported admitted to not filing or paying taxes from 2003 to 2005.
Prosecutors claim Beans owes around $350,000 on $1 million of unreported income. However, his defense lawyer Fortunato Perri Jr. plans to challenge those numbers.
Beanie Sigel could face up to three years in prison, when he's sentenced November 18th.
The rapper was charged with tax fraud last October. While he has admitted to not paying the IRS, his team says Beans was behind bars during some of the tax years in question, and had others handling his finances. Perri hopes Sigel can avoid prison due to the circumstances.
The incarceration would be the first time Beans has done time. He previously served time on drug and weapons charges, and for prescription drug use while on federal probation.
As far as music, it's been four years since he dropped his last solo album, titled The Solution, via Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam.
