Mac Miller Announces Title For Debut Album, Due Out This Fall
Buzzing Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller, who was named to XXL's Freshman Class of 2011 earlier this year, announced his forthcoming debut album this week, which will drop in the fall.
Titled Blue Slide Park, the album will drop through Rostrum Records, and will follow the teen rapper's On and On and Beyond EP, which has sold over 60,000 since dropping in April.
Since signing with Rostrum in 2010, Mac has released two classic mixtapes, K.I.D.S. and Best Day Ever, along with a dozen videos -- all of which has created a buzz garnering a fall release for his official debut.
Mac Miller has been hard to miss in 2011, with international media coverage and features in such online and print publications like Rolling Stone, XXL, RESPECT, and Antenna. His "Incredibly Dope Tour" sold out shows nationwide over a six-month span, as Miller toured both as a headliner and periodically with labelmate Wiz Khalifa.
Miller's videos have gone viral with over 85 million views worldwide on his personal Youtube channel, and now have received significant airplay on MTV, FUSE, and BET.
The rapper hopped on UStream on Tuesday night (July 5) to announce the title to his fans. The announcement (see the video below) quickly became a trending topic on Twitter with the hashtag "#BlueSlidePark" trending worldwide.
The majority of the album has been created and recorded by the hometown team in Pittsburgh, with the help of producers E Dan and Big Jerm of ID LABS.
Mac told XXL this week that the album won't have very many features, if any, saying, "I just want it to be straight up me for the album."
An actual date for Blue Slide Park has yet to be announced.
