LRG Founder, Jonas Bevacqua, Found Dead In L.A. Home (Updated)
Jonas Bevacqua, the co-founder of popular clothing brand Lifted Research Group (aka L-R-G), has reportedly passed away in Los Angeles. An insider said he died in his sleep.
However, details regarding his death were unknown at press time.
He was just 33 years old.
Twitter timelines have been flooded with shocked reactions to the news, since new began spreading early Tuesday (May 31).
The official Karmaloop Twitter account (@KarmaLoop) released this statement: "Our thoughts & prayers go out to the loved ones of Jonas, co-founder of LRG. We're deeply saddened by this news. Rest in Peace."
Los Angeles-based celebrity jewelry and friend, Ben Baller, expressed his utter shock over the news during the mid-morning hours, via his Twitter feed.
"Woke up at 8am to the worst news I've heard in my lifetime.... my best man...." Ben wrote (@BenBaller). "everything in my life is canceled for a little while....."
Update (11:40 pm PST): So, longtime friend Ben Baller revealed further details regarding Jonas' death, via his blog (IFandCo.com). The fashion owner's body was found lifeless at his home in Laguna Beach, Calif. at around 7 p.m. on Monday (May 30). However, word is he passed away hours before at around 11 a.m.
Jonas' body was found by his father and fiance, both of whom attempted to resuscitate him to no avail. Ben did not elaborate on speculation about how he died, writing: "F*** what the coroners office will say, I know what happened and I know he died peacefully."
L-R-G had not commented on their website, and/or social networking profiles as of press time.
Jonas Bevacqua started L-R-G in 1999, alongside partner Robert Wright. By the mid-2000s, Entrepreneur Magazine named the company one of the Hot 500 list of fastest-growing companies and reported its 2006 sales figures at an estimated $150 million.
Many consider the brand one of the original pioneers of the streetwear, lifestyle brands of today.
