Throughout Monday (May 16), the hip-hop community mourned the passing of a Los Angeles talent who died way too young in a drive-by in his hometown of Inglewood, California -- M-Bone of "Teach Me How To Dougie" foursome, the Cali Swag District (CSD).
The 22-year-old (real name: Montae Talbert) was gunned down in a drive-by shooting late Sunday evening (May 15) in front of an Inglewood liquor store, and was pronounced dead upon arrival to a nearby hospital.
While initial reports and statements from the rapper's group members called the shooting a "random act of violence," M-Bone's girlfriend has come forward to reveal that the shooter was jealous man who lived in the couple's apartment complex.
According to TMZ, M-Bone's girlfriend -- who lived with him for more than a year -- says a man living in their apartment complex was obsessed with the rapid rise of CSD, and was overtly hostile to the rapper for some time now.
The unnamed girlfriend confirmed rumors that M-Bone has been involved in a war of words with the man over Twitter, where the man made threats of violence.
She told TMZ picked M-Bone up at the airport at 12:15 pm on Sunday, and took him back to their apartment. Later that night, at around 10 pm, M-Bone took her car and said he was going to the studio to record. Shortly after the shooting, she said a separated member of the group called her to tell her the devastating news.
As of press time, Inglewood Police are investigating the shooting ... and have currently made no arrests.
