Boston rapper Akrobatik reportedly suffered a heart attack last Thursday (May 12), and rumors circulated that he was in a medically-induced coma and set to undergo heart surgery.
However, fellow hometown rappers, Mr. Lif and Edo. G, have recently revealed that AK is currently in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
"Everybody please pray for Ak I love that dude like a lil Brother I Broke down Crying and can't stop as i'm writing this," Edo. G said in a tweet (@EdOGBoston), first breaking the news about Akrobatik's health situation.
Last Friday (May 13), Lif said that the rapper had successfully undergone open heart surgery, and is in stable condition.
"I'm sure Ak is thankful for all your concern," Lif tweeted (@TheRealMrLif). "He is in stable condition after open heart surgery. Pls send him positive energy."
Akrobatik has been a pillar of the indie hip-hop scene in Boston for over a decade, coming into the game in 1998 with his first single, "Ruff Enough."
He went on to release several solo projects and collaboration albums with his group, The Perceptionists, consisting of himself, Mr. Lif and DJ Fatks One.
