Rapper M-Bone -- a member of the Los Angeles foursome, the Cali Swag District (CSD) -- was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting this past weekend in his hometown of Inglewood, California.
The rapper (real name: Montae Talbert) was reportedly next to his car, parked in front a liquor store, at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday evening (May 15) when a car pulled up and shots rang out.
At least two shots were fired, one of which struck the M-Bone in his head, said Inglewood Police Lt. Steve Overly.
The 22-year-old was rushed to a nearby hospital, and later pronounced dead upon arrival.
Further details regarding the murder were unknown. However, initial reports say M-Bone was not the intended target in the shooting.
M-Bone's CSD brothers released a statement Monday (May 16), saying his death "was the victim of a random act of violence last night, Sunday, May 15th in his hometown of Inglewood, CA."
"As police are still investigating the shooting and untimely death , we ask that anyone with information contact the Inglewood Police Department," they said. "[M-Bone] was an inspiration to his family, friends, and fans. He was a hardworking, passionate artist and dancer that will be deeply missed."
M-Bone and the Cali Swag District burst onto the music scene in 2010 with their monster smash, "Teach Me How To Dougie," which was centered around a dance that started in the south. The foursome even taught Kim Kardashian how to do the dance.
