Rappers paying tribute to their favorite sports franchises or players is not uncommon at all. Wiz Khalifa saw success with his tribute to NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers with hit breakout hit, "Black and Yellow," and now, Yung Berg is following with his own track for Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose, who was just named this year's MVP.
On a new track, titled "Derrick Rose", Berg spits about the NBA star's skills on the court, but dropped the track before their playoff run began last month.
Berg hopes it takes off much like Wiz's aforementioned hit single.
"Hopefully I got my own little 'Black and Yellow' thing going on," Berg tells Billboard.com. "My goal is for it to be playing inside the Bulls playoff [games], like when Derrick Rose scores, or for ESPN to show it. I would love for it to get played like that."
The rapper recently shot a music video for the song in Chicago, which appears on his forthcoming mixtape, More Money, More Condoms.
As far as Rose's MVP accomplishment, Berg says Rose "has been kicking ass all year. He deserves it. I definitely see [the Bulls] going to the finals, and I feel like they can win."
More Money, More Condoms will be a double-disc effort, says reports, and is expected this fall. Check out "Derrick Rose" below.
