It's been a few weeks since the NBA's regular season ended, and everyone's been wondering: who will be this year's MVP?
Well, according to ESPN, the Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose is set to be revealed as the youngest Most Valuable Player (MVP) award-winner in the history of the NBA.
At 22, Rose was was widely expected to win the award after leading the Bulls to a 62-20 record, and the #1 seed in the playoffs.
The Bulls have scheduled a 4 p.m. CT Tuesday (May 3) news conference for a "major announcement," which ESPN says will be news of the MVP award
As of Monday night (May 2), Rose said the league hadn't told him anything about the award, but maybe he knows by now.
"Not yet. Still hearing from it," he said. "But right now, I'm sorry to say that's the last thing I'm thinking about. I'm sorry."
Rose is expected to be presented with the award during Wednesday's (May 4) Game 2 against the Atlanta Hawks, where he will become the first Bulls player to win the MVP honor since Michael Jordan in 1998.
Jordon won it five times. The NBA legend also agrees that Rose deserved the award.
The Chicago-born point guard had a breakout third season this year, averaging 25 points, 7.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds, making a significant leap from his rookie and sophomore years. He also started his first All-Star game back in February.
Rose was chosen with the #1 overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft, and also earned the Rookie of the Year award.
