After two years spent establishing himself as an independent artist and solidifying his fan base, former Shady Records artist Bobby Creekwater is gearing up for the release of his long-awaited solo debut album, set for May.
The project, tiled Revenge, will be release through his own BGOV imprint, and is being launched with the release of his first single, "You and What Army," accompanied by its official music video (see below).
The song and accompanying visual capture the essence of who Bobby Creekwater is and what his music represents: Atlanta, says his camp.
"We chose to make this the first single because it embodies everything that brought me to this point," Creekwater explains of the track. "As a kid, knowing that nothing could stop me, gave me the courage to follow my dreams. And my experiences in the music business have proven that I still won't let anything stand in my way."
Since leaving Shady Records in 2009, Bobby Creekwater and his BGOV Media Group imprint have worked tirelessly to continue building on the momentum and popularity he gained during his early career. So far, their efforts have been successful.
Through a series of mixtape releases, Creek has kept his buzz growing by consistently releasing quality music. His constant musical presence also allowed him to create new strategic partnerships, including his recent showcases at SXSW.
Additionally, Creek is also slated to provide support for Big K.R.I.T. during the summer, and several spot dates.
However, on Revenge, it's all about Bobby Creekwater. While the album features a few guests, Bobby says those are "very strategic" and "few and far between."
Charlie Skrill, who once was the other half of Creek's first group Jatis, appears on "Cut It Out;" while long time collaborator Mykel lends his vocals to "Get Money Girl." And lastly, Killer Mike and Big K.R.I.T. appear on the album's last cut "Airborn."
Production for the album is provided entirely by up-and-coming production duo, I Am Invisible," with the exception of just one track.
"The last few years have been a bigger journey for me than most people can imagine," Creek says. "But the lessons I've picked up as a man have also influenced my music greatly. So in a sense, I'm actually glad that the journey to my debut album was this long, because what I'm delivering to the fans on Revenge is really a body of work that will stand the test of time."
Revenge is slated to drop May 3. For more info, visit iBobbyCreekwater.
