Yung Berg Stops Rocking Gaudy Jewelry, Says 'I Learned My Lesson'

By Allen Starbury   |   Published 03/20/2011

Yung BergDespite landing a smash hit in 2008 with Ray J, titled "Sexy Can I," all most people have seen Yung Berg in the news for is controversy. From chain snatching to getting slapped, the young rapper hasn't has the best last few years.

However, he continues to work, and recently dropped a brand new mixtape, titled Mr. Ward, in which he says he's showing a more mature side to him.

In a recent interview with Vibe.com, the mag's writer asked Berg -- straight out -- if he is still "comfortable rocking flashy jewelry." At 25 years of age, the rapper says he's toned it down a bit.

"Me growing up and being Christian, being Mr. Ward, and who I really I am, I toned down," Berg said. "I'm not going to be with the big gaudy chains because people would look and they would say 'Well, this n**** still ain't learn his lesson.' I learned my lesson.

"I'm going to have jewelry, but it's going to be more upscale and common. It's not going to be catching just the n**** eye," he continued.

The whole controversy with Berg and his jewelry started all the way back in August 2008, when his custom, Transformers chain was snatched inside a Detroit nightclub. At the time, he downplayed the robbery, brushing it off as a loss he could afford, because after all, he had plenty more.

Well, after he started flashing a huge, Batman piece, made with black diamonds, in 2010, a goon from London robbed Berg for that one ... and so goes the story of Yung Berg and his big ass chains.

Hopefully, Berg can stick to this new frame of mind, so he doesn't become a victim of another chain robbery.

The rapper's new mixtape, Mr. Ward, is out now, and available all around the web, just Google it.
