Talib Kweli was reportedly kicked out of his own after-party days before Christmas, after getting into a scuffle with his wife, reports the NY Post.
The paper says that the Brooklyn rapper was celebrating the release of his new album, Gutter Rainbows, at New York nightspot, Snap. Things were going ok, until his wife DJ Eque "flew into a rage and launched herself at Kweli".
People at the party said Eque was angry after she saw Kweli flirting with other women.
A source from the party told the Post that the incident happened in a private room backstage.
"Kweli made a joke thanking the sponsor, Hennessey, for paying for his wedding in 2009, saying otherwise he wouldn't have got married," the anynomous source said." The party later carried on in a private room. When his wife saw him chatting and being friendly with other women, she flew off the handle. She went at him and they were almost wrestling before they fell back on a table, smashing some glasses.
"Security then asked them to leave, and they carried on the argument outside as they got into their car."
Despite the rumors, Kweli seemed to laugh off the reports when asked about it by a fan on Twitter.
"is it true that Talib kweli beat up his wife?" asked a fan, to which the rapper responded: "lmao is that what they saying? Cmon now. How that sound?"
The couple married in 2009 during a ceremony in California, which was attended by friends Queen Latifah, Questlove, DJ Rashida, Adam Rodriguez (of CSI) and family.
Gutter Rainbows is due out January 25.
