In the summer, the duo known as The Cool Kids -- consisting of Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish -- revealed a few problems: one being a legal issue with their name, and another being their label.
While "The Cool Kids" name seems to be intact -- they performed as The Cool Kids during Thursday night's (October 7) Sneaker Pimps stop in Los Angeles -- their label problem was an issue they couldn't get past.
And ... it's been solved, because they've reportedly split with Chocolate Industries following a lengthy court battle, which halted their debut album and held them to dropping strictly mixtapes to stay alive.
Inglish announced the split via Twitter (@ChuckIsDope) on Wednesday (October 6).
"Yo! Were free agents.. The Cool Kids are out of record label jail... Let's cheers to that," Chuck wrote. "In case you were wondering why we never put an album out. We were dealing with some sh** we couldn't control in a short amount of time. But me and @SirMichaelRocks stood up for ours. and in return.. We get what we wanted. Freedom to make our music. Without the BS."
According to TheBoomBox.com, the duo was unhappy with their record deal with Chocolate Industries for the past couple of years, and therefore took the imprint to court to get released from the contract. At one point, they tried to change their group name to "Chuck & Mikey," so they could legally release new music, but were forced to remain silent until the court case was completed.
"Thanks for the love yall. If you are doin music be careful There's some real life serpents out here. Triple horn devils forreal," tweeted Mikey (@SirMichaelRocks).
Fans are still waiting for The Cool Kids debut album, but until them, there's three official mixtapes out there, the last being Tacklebox. Cop it at CoolXKids.com.
