Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem was arrested Sunday (August 15) for possession of marijuana, following a traffic stop in Miami-Dade County, reports ESPN.

According to the report, the 30-year-old NBA player was stopped at around 3:05 p.m. for speeding while driving in his 2008 Mercededs on the Gratigny Parkway.

Following the stop, the highway patrol officer says he smelled "an odor of marijuana from within the vehicle," which led to search of his vechile, which turned up an undisclosed amount of marijuana.

Haslem was arrested and charged with possessing more than 20 grams of marijuana, a third-degree felony which could bring maximum punishments of a $5,000 fine and a five-year prison sentence.

After booking, he was released on bond shortly after.

At press time, Haslem's camp and the Heat did not release a comment regarding the incident.

Haslem has spent all seven of his NBA seasons with the Heat, and this off-season signed a new five-year contract to stay with the team.
