The Black Eyed Peas hit a sales milestone this week, when their smash single, "I Gotta Feeling," became the first song in history to reach the six million digital download mark.
The single, from their 2009 album The E.N.D., remained atop of the Billboard Hot 100 charts for 14 weeks in a row, stealing the top spot from their previous single, "Boom Boom Pow."
With the announcement, it now becomes best-selling digital download of all time.
"We came out in '98 and our career, if you would look at it on a chart, there's no dips in it," Will.i.am. told the Associated Press. "For our career to still be healthy and vibrant and doing things like 6 million downloads, it's pretty significant."
The group celebrated the accomplishment on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Friday (July 30), where they performed the hit single and announced the title of their upcoming album -- The Beginning.
The forthcoming album, which will be their sixth, is expected to drop at the end of 2010.
"It symbolizes growth, new beginnings and starts, fresh new perspective," said Will.i.am.
