After Dr. Dre and Lady GaGa, hip-hop mogul Diddy recently joined forces with Monster for the release of his own signature high performance in-ear headphones.
We had a chance to test them out to see if they were worth the $179 price tag.
What's in the box
- Diddy Beats headphones
- carrying pouch
- eight pairs of silicone ear tips in different sizes
- security clip
- manual
The good
The Diddy Beats are a perfect match with Sean Combs' liking of luxury. Without making sacrifices in its sound performance, the headphones look slick and stylish. They are made of high quality materials, such as aluminium and leather, while the cables are flat -- preventing technical troubles and interference. The headphones are available in three colors -- pink, black and white.
Other pleasant features are the volume track up/track down panel and the in-line mic with iPod and iPhone controls, which makes it possible for quick phone calls. Just like the Beats Tour and Heart Beats, the Diddy Beats offer superior sound performance. The heavy bass and low-end are great and make the headphones suitable for a variety of genres.
The bad
After thoroughly inspecting the headphones, we were finally able to locate the "left" and "right" markings. It's a minor gripe. However, after giving the headphones a try, save yourself a search by remembering the remote control is attached to the left earphone.
The verdict
Diddy and Monster have delivered headphones that are a must-have for music lovers that are looking for more than simplistic headphones. Both the design and sound are superior. The Diddy Beats are what Dre, GaGa and Diddy are to the music world -- top-notch talents that can not be equaled or surpassed by most of their competitors.
