Late last year, Pharrell revealed that he was adding a singer named Rhea to his N.E.R.D. hip-hop group/band, but has since changed their minds.
In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Pharrell said he and the members of N.E.R.D. "experimented" with the addition of Rhea, which in October said added a "very 3D" aspect to their sound.
However, in the end, Rhea needed to be solo, the producer/rapper said.
"She needed her own band to do the kind of music that she does, which is R&B," Pharrell explained.
So, apparently, that's what he's giving her. Rhea performs with her band Jealous Lover.
Pharrell is producing Rhea's forthcoming album, and says, so far, it's "turning out incredible."
On the N.E.R.D. side of things, the trio -- consisting of Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo, and Shay Haley -- are preparing the release of their fourth album, titled Nothing, set to drop on September 7.
Pharrell tells the AP that the LP was inspired by music from the late '60s and early '70s.
The album's first single is "Hot 'n' Fun".
