Since 2K Sports announced in early June that the legendary Michael Jordan would grace the cover of their upcoming NBA 2K11 basketball title, fans have been curious as to how the cover would look.
The MJ cover could feature a number of classic images of the NBA great. Maybe an image of his trademark Air Jordan silhouette dunk, one of the defining moments of his career? What could it be?
Well, earlier this week, the wait was over. 2K revealed the cover, boasting Michael driving with his signature tongue hanging out of the mouth swag.
"We knew as soon as we signed Jordan that we needed to do something special for the cover," 2K Sports vice president of marketing, Jason Argent, said in a press release. "This could possibly be the most highly anticipated cover art in the history of sports games and we think the image we came up with delivers on every front. I think fans will be pleasantly surprised at how Jordan is actually used in game, as NBA 2K11 will pay homage to 'His Airness' in many ways, but the cover art represented our first chance to stop and honor him along the way."
In addition to the image of a driving MJ, the cover sports the phrase "The Greatest of All-Time."
Now, hopefully the actual game will live up to that same sentence.
NBA 2K11 will hit the PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, and Xbox 360 on October 5th! We can't wait!
