A new urban blog website launched earlier this month, called ThaKite.com, with a focus on being the voice of the urban Latino culture around the globe.
According to a press release, the newly launched site will "provide a much needed outlet for cutting edge Latino artists, producers, executives and brands to be presented to the urban/hip-hop market" and "provide updates on the entertainment industry and the hottest trends within the culture."
To promote and oversee the new site, ThaKite.com has enlisted the services of Luis "Lulu" Torres, CEO of BYI Entertainment. Torres is a prominent tastemaker in Los Angeles, and in 2006, garnered a 50/50 joint venture deal with Interscope Records.
When Torres was presented with the idea, he was impressed and immediately jumped onboard. He says he partnered with the website because he wanted to create "more awareness and exposure for our people and culture."
"To me, ThaKite.com means to communicate, by any means, to make the best of a tough situation," he explained of the blog's name.
