Rapper Kid Cudi was reportedly arrested in New York City on Friday (June 11) and charged with felony criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance.

According to TMZ, the Cleveland rapper (real name: Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi) took the phone of a 24-year-old woman and smashed it, and allegedly ripped her apartment door off its hinges.

Someone called the cops after hearing the commotion, and when authorities arrived, a glass bottle of a controlled substance was found.

Rap-Up.com reports that Cudi is dating environmental activist Jamie Baratta, but it's unknown whether she was the woman involved in the incident.

Cudi has a violent history. In December 2009, he made headlines when he leaped into the crowd of a concert in Vancouver and punched a fan after someone threw something at him on stage.

He was not arrested, nor did the fan press charges. The rapper later apologized.
