 It seems that Diddy is taking on a new role, among all the others he's already doing -- management. A source close to the hip-hop mogul tells Billboard.com that he's taken over manager duties for rapper Nicki Minaj, after she recently fired her former representation, Debra Antney.
Antney, who also manages her son rapper Wacka Flocka Flame and Gucci Mane, revealed the news in a recently released statement, in which she said there was no ill will toward the bubbling female MC.
"I received a letter, which was [a] suspension," she said. "The next letter that came in was a cease and desist in doing all business with Nicki Minaj from Nicki's attorney. I love Nicki. I wish her the most success. It's not about the music, she's like one of my children ... I wish her no harm, only much success."
According to Billboard, before signing with Diddy, Minaj had been looking to be represented by Lady Gaga's manager Troy Carter. But, when Gaga threatened to leave Carter if he took Minaj as a client, he backed out of the deal.
In addition to Nicki, Diddy is also managing rapper Rick Ross, who is preparing the release of a new album titled Teflon Don in June. Minaj, herself, is expected to drop her debut this year as well.
Each party were unavailable for comment at press time.
Nicki Minaj recently backed out of Rihanna's "Last Girl on Earth" summer tour to finish work on her album. So far, she's dropped the first single, "Massive Attack" featuring Sean Garrett, and an accompanying music video.
