He's known as the "People's Champ," but Paul Wall is also a president! Yes, the Houston rapper was reportedly elected president of the Texas chapter of the Recording Academy, which organizes the Grammy Awards.

He previously held the title of Governor, alongside the likes of saxophonist Joe Posada, bassist Chuck Rainey and industry veterans like Mathew Knowles.

Now he's prez, and says he hopes he can bring more of a Texas influence into the Grammy nomination process.

"I've been a Governor on the board of the Texas chapter for a long time. There's a process on how you get nominated [for a Grammy] and it's done by voting," Wall said. "A lot of people don't know this and for me, I want to get our membership up in Texas.

"There's so much credible music here in all genres and its so vast," he added. "Everything is bigger in Texas, but our membership, we are like #6 on the list out of [the] 12 chapters. At the very least, there could be more nominations for artists from Texas."

Paul Wall is currently working on his fifth solo album, The Heart Of A Champion.

And, recently hit the road with former partner Chamillionaire for a tour they call "In Love With My Money," where they will trek across the U.S. through late April.
