So, Allen Iverson will not return for the rest of the season, the Philadelphia 76ers announced this week.
Last month, the team revealed that Iverson had been given an indefinite leave from the team to deal with a personal issue related to the health of his 4-year-old daughter.
He's been absent for a month, but was expected to return. It was just unknown when he would.
Now, it's confirmed that he'll be out for the rest of the NBA season.
"After discussing the situation with Allen, we have come to the conclusion that he will not return to the Sixers for the remainder of the season, as he no longer wishes to be a distraction to the organization and teammates that he loves very deeply," team president Ed Stefanski said. "It has been very difficult for Allen and the team to maintain any consistency as he tries to balance his career with his personal life."
Iverson averaged just 13.8 points in 28 games this season. He began the season with the Memphis Grizzles, but played just three games before announcing his short-lived retirement.
Then, days later, the 34-year-old four-time scoring champ got emotional during a press conference, as he announced his return to Philadelphia.
At press time, it was unclear what Iverson's plans are for next season.
