Last season, veteran NFL quarterback Brett Favre proved that even at age 40, he can still make an impact. He eventually led the Minnesota Vikings all the way to the NFC Championship game, but lost.
Now, as he closes in on 41, the question fans and his team wanna know is: will he return for this 20th NFL season?
Vikings coach Brad Childress said this week that the team is prepared to wait on Favre's answer and aren't pressing the issue at the moment.
Childress told ESPN that he's spoken to his quarterback a couple times this week, and football is the last thing on his mind right now.
"I'm not going to put him in any box," Childress said. "Four weeks and change, he's still healing up from that game [the NFC championship]. He's kind of earned that latitude."
According to the coach, Favre has been busy laying down fresh limestone on a road that leads to his mother-in-law's house, which is on Favre's property in Mississippi.
Right now, it's Favre's decision whether or not another NFL season is in his future.
The three-time MVP made an emotional retirement announcement two years ago in Green Bay. But that summer, he returned to the NFL as a New York Jet. Then last year, Favre retired with a torn biceps in his throwing shoulder in February. However, he un-retired, again, signing with Minnesota.
Here we are again, playing the waiting game. Stay tuned...
