West Coast rapper Ras Kass is gearing up for a full-length project set to drop in late spring, but is asking his fans to help finance it.
The still untitled album will consist of 18 to 20 brand new tracks. Further details remain underwraps, but Ras promises top notch features and production.
Kris, from RasKass-Central.com, revealed exclusively to BallerStatus that the album will be done with DJ Rhettmatic, of Beat Junkies fame.
Throughout 2009, the rapper dropped a producer called Quarterly, a 19-track effort which he leaked in installments during a 10-week duration.
Well, that project was sold on BandCamp.com, and fans got to choose their own price. The money made from Quarterly was rolled over into this new project, and Rasy is asking for pledges to help him finish it.
"First off, thanks to everyone for supporting the Quarterly project on Bandcamp. The money raised from that project went directly to pay for studio time for this project," Ras Kass said.
"Please support this project with any amount you can. If the project goal is not reached by the deadline, the money will not be charged to you, and the pressing of the project may not take place," he continued.
The rapper is trying to raise $3,800 to fund the project by April 19th. While he says the amount will not nearly meet the costs, he hopes fans can help.
The project will be a paid download, but Ras wants to press up 1,000 limited edition CDs and 500 limited edition pieces of vinyl, which will feature an exclusive bonus track not featured on the CD.
Fans can pledge anywhere from $5 to $1,000 or more. By pledging, you will receive certain perks.
For $5, you will receive code to download the album in MP3. For $1,000, you get an "Ultra Limited Edition" set of lyrics to Ras Kass's classic song, "Nature of the Threat", handwritten by the rapper himself, a signed CD and vinyl, two limited clothing items, a phone call from Ras, a "special producer" credit on the project, shoutout, and free entrance into any Ras Kass performance within the next year.
