As if he didn't already have enough legal worries, with his impending incarceration looming, Lil Wayne was hit with a lawsuit recently ... for copyright infringement.
According to TheBoomBox.com, the New Orleans rapper (real name: Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.) has been hit with a $2.5 million copyright infringement suit over his, "Mrs. Officer," off the multi-platinum Tha Carter III.
A company called the Royalty Network filed the lawsuit against Weezy and Cash Money Records on Wednesday (February 17) in Manhattan Federal Court, claiming the label stopping paying royalties for the song to producer Darius "Deezle" Harrison, who claims ownership.
Harrison says that Cash Money stopped paying him after allegations emerged that he had stolen parts of the record from a song called "Crush," by a little known artist named Sky.
He is currently seeking all profits made from the song, including music videos, ringtones and streaming media.
In addition to "Mrs. Officer," Harrison has production credits for six other songs on Tha Carter III.
