Lil Wayne Filmed Nine Music Videos Over The Past Week
By Allen Starbury ♦ Published 02/10/2010

Lil WayneLil Wayne got a little breathing room when his sentencing was delayed this week until March, but he made the best of what was to be his last week of freedom. He spent it working ... very hard.

According to MTV.com, Weezy's been in overdrive, reportedly filming nine music videos in Miami over the past weekend.

Director David Rousseau of Creativeseen said the rapper and his crew began filming at 9AM on Friday (February 5) and wrapped at 8AM on Super Bowl Sunday (February 7).

He reportedly shot videos for "Da Da Da," "Knockout" and "Get a Life" from Wayne's recently-released rock album Rebirth, and an unreleased song from Wayne's forthcoming record, Tha Carter IV.

"There isn't a title for it," Rousseau said of the unreleased song. "Honestly, I can't tell you too much about it. That was a complete secret. We had to kick everyone off the set for it. No photography, even their official photographer had to leave. That's under wraps. The album is still under production. It's a crazy song.

"We shot some sh** from the [We Are Young Money compilation] album, we shot something from Tha Carter IV. Some stuff from Rebirth," he continued. "We knew what our deadline was. We're trying to get maximum coverage for Wayne. Most of the time we only shot Wayne's verses -- we'll finish the rest of the videos off in the next couple of weeks."

Rousseau, who worked with Wayne in the past, said he was contacted by Cash Money Records' CEOs, Birdman and Slim, and given the task. Their mission is to keep the rapper visible while he's incarcerated, instead of him disappearing during the prison stint.

"Cash Money said, 'This is our deadline. This is a hard deadline.' It was basically a 'Mission: Impossible' [scenario]: This is your mission if you choose to accept it. Everybody is on board because everybody knows what's at stake," he explained. "Unlike T.I. and some of these other guys that's disappeared while they were in, the point is to keep Wayne [visible] on TV and everything for whatever time he's in. There was a plan in action. Slim and Baby really could foresee that. He's at the height of his career, you can't let that momentum slip."

In addition to the visuals shot by Rousseau, Wayne recently shot four in Los Angeles, one in Dallas, and has reportedly "been shooting" in Atlanta, too, said the report.

In addition to the Cash Money/Young Money family, celebrities such as Juelz Santana, Yo Gotti and boxer Sugar Shane Mosley came out for the shoots.

With an extension to his sentencing, Wayne might kick his work schedule into high gear, so don't be surprised if he shoots even more visuals.

Smart move Wayne! Better do what you can so they can drop those videos and music while you are in the Pen(more like penthouse) so you don't become a subject of out of sight out of mind zone.

@Vengeance & J-Smooth, I co-sign you. The end is near, I'm glad too. he had a couple good songs but the "greatest" title should have never touched his name. His work-rate is incredible but people need to listen to his lyrics more closely. And it's not a over-your-head type flow, it just don't make sense.

It's always best for an artist like Wayne who is always in your face, with a video, a song, a cameo, an article, or whatever to disappear for a while. I think this time away will be good for him because his fans need to miss him for a bit. It will only help his fame.
