Most of the usual suspects were on this week's Billboard 200. Aside from new pop releases, and a new album from Corinne Bailey Rae, most of the top tier includes previously released albums.
Last week's no. 1, the Hope for Haiti Now charity compilation, slipped to no. 2 this week with 143,000, while Lady Gaga's The Fame held steady at no. 3 with 68,000.
In at no. 6 was Michael Jackson's This Is It which jumped 11 spots with 55,000 copies sold, thanks to the attention generated from the DVD release of the same-named film, while the Grammy Nominees 2010 compilation moves down three slots to no. 8 in its second week with 45,000.
In at no. 7 was a new album from Corinne Bailey Rae, whose second album The Sea opened at no. 7 with 53,000 copies.
And closing out the top 10, at No. 10, is the Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D., selling 40,000.
And the last in the top 20 was Alicia Keys' Element of Freedom, which landed at no. 11 with 37,000 copies.
That wraps things up this week. To cop any of these new releases, head over to Amazon.com.
According to Billboard.com, overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Jan. 31) totaled 6.50 million units, up 11% compared to the sum last week (5.84 million) and down .06% compared to the comparable sales week of 2009 (6.51 million).
