Rapper T.I. just got out of jail, but he's already going through some legal troubles.
The Atlanta rapper is reportedly being sued by a rapper known as Motoe Blizzid over allegedly stealing ideas from him for hit single, "What You Know."
According to documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, the lesser-known rapper (real name: Nathan Filby) has filed a copyright infringement suit against T.I. (real name: Clifford Harris), claiming he uses substantial portions of his 2004 track "Reverence" for "What You Know", off TIP's 2006 album King.
Filby claims he distributed his 2004 song to industry insiders including an agent at Relentless Management who works with T.I.
He claims the evidence is undeniable from their "same rate of harmonic range" to their "virtually identical core harmonic progression of descending 4ths" and "nearly identical instrumental melodic lines in terms of pitch, shape, and rhythm."
According to Radar, Filby even added illustrations in the court documents showing the two songs' similar melodic similarities.
Filby is requesting the suit go to a jury trial, and seeks damages of all profits derived from the song.
T.I.'s camp had yet to respond to the allegations at press time.
